There are certain things that can make or break a great vacation: having your essentials on hand, being with the right people, and keeping some game-changing travel tips in your back pocket to pull them out when needed!
Over the years, Tia Mowry learned a thing or two about how to make traveling easier, whether alone, with your family, or with a group, and we recently spoke with the actress to get the inside scoop to share with our Parade readers.
First of all, when it comes to travelling, organization is key! According to Family meeting star, anything that has a designated place is absolutely necessary to save time and energy so that “if something should happen and you need that item, you know exactly where it is.”
Besides keeping things organized, what’s one thing she definitely doesn’t want to be taken away from home without? The convenience of a good rewards credit card that can be used for all purchases on the go. For this reason, the actress has teamed up with Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card giving a few lucky participants the trip of a lifetime.
The Boundless Bucket List contest was “created to inspire people to get out there,” Mowry noted, further emphasizing the idea that post-pandemic, now is a great time to jet-set.
For the competition, three winners will have the opportunity to travel to one of their favorite destinations. In addition to the trip itself, the prize will also include complimentary dining experiences and hotel stays. To enter, create a Pinterest board of your desired location and submit a video or essay explaining why this trip could change your life.
For the sister, sister alum, travel is something that has altered her view of the world, and she now makes it a point to encourage others to do the same when possible. “It keeps me from getting so narrow-minded and teaches me how to grow and learn,” she admitted, adding, “The more we go out and learn and grow, the better off we become as beings. humans; you have better human beings, you have a better world to live in.”
An avid traveler, seeing the world certainly touched her deeply, even changing her as a person. “Dealing with different experiences that I didn’t see growing up, it really shaped me into the human that I am today,” she said.
The mum-of-two, Cree, 11, and Cairo, 4, also shared some game-changing tips for hitting the road with kids.
In addition to making sure all digital devices are charged and ready to go the night before, download kids’ favorite programs ahead of time (because let’s be honest, relying on WiFi just isn’t a viable option ) is something she attributes to smooth sailing while toddlers are in tow.
For eating, there’s a tip she’s learned that’s invaluable. “Bring utensils that your kids use. That’s something you wouldn’t necessarily think about,” Mowry suggested. “When you travel, you don’t always have access to smaller utensils. It’s all about making the experience an enjoyable one for your kids.”

Finally, the actress advises booking flights at times that suit your family’s specific schedule. “Track your child’s sleeping habits. This is also what is really important! she offered.
When she talked about taking her little ones – whom she called her favorite travel companions – for adventures, she noted that having them around made her feel so “fulfilled as a mother” because ‘”they are so much fun”.
“I love seeing them see things for the first time,” Mowry said, adding that it “makes the experience amazing.”
In terms of must-haves, there are a few things the star absolutely can’t live without, and they’re so common you shouldn’t either! “Water is extremely important when traveling, and I think it’s so underrated. You need to stay hydrated!”
It’s also helpful to have immunity-boosting supplements on hand throughout your travels: vitamin C and oil of oregano, in particular, according to the instant mom alum.
In other obvious necessities—snacks! (For the children and for herself). “There aren’t always healthy snacks on the plane,” so she always brings her own, and we think that’s a really good practice to adopt. She advises keeping everything neat and compartmentalized with her favorite bento boxes.
It’s never too late to take your talents to a new place, so plan to get up and go! The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Bucket List competition begins September 8 at 9 a.m. For all the details on how to participate, you can find all the information here!
