Shopping at Greenville’s “Certified Road Markets”

Before wasting time – and fuel – scouring the countryside for farm-to-fork worthy produce and merchandise, a South Carolina Department of Agriculture program can help point you in the right direction.

SCDA Certified road markets The program is designed to highlight roadside markets that “voluntarily meet certain standards…are reputable and have a good supply of South Carolina agricultural products,” according to the CSAE blurb on the old program. 50 years old.

Certified Road Markets are part of a much larger effort by SCDA to connect consumers to South Carolina products, known as “Certified SC Grown”, a cooperative initiative between SCDA and a host of public and private partners.

Wondering which Greenville-area restaurants are part of SCDA’s Fresh on the Menu program? There is also a searchable database for this. Spoiler alert: Greenville County is home to 18 “Fresh on the Menu” restaurants, ranging from white tablecloth to your basic barbecue or burger experience.

Participating road markets, in particular, must comply with a list of 10 rules and regulations related to the quality of products sold, sanitation and cleanliness, location and parking, among others.
