ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) – There’s always something happening in Atlanta’s culinary scene, including new restaurants, new menu items, tastings and dinners, festivals and more. Here’s the latest news from the Atlanta metro area:

Marlow’s Tavern is now offering a special ribs and whiskey menu through October 3. Drinks are made with Nelson Brothers bourbon, Woodinville bourbon, Old Forester, Jack Daniel’s Honey and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Menu highlights include BBQ flatbread, chicken verde soup, pork and rolls, whole and half rack ribs, chicken flambé with mustard, salmon flambé with jack and bread pudding with honey and bourbon.

Juniper coffee The Lunar Festival will take place from 5 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. on September 10. Dishes on the menu will include buttermilk fried chicken with Chinese chili crisp, sticks, pork puffs and more. They will also be offering fortified seltzer water as part of their adult drink specials that night. All attendees will also receive a handmade moon cake.

The Atlanta Food and Wine Festival takes place from September 13 to 18. The annual event includes tasting tents at Historic Fourth Ward Park; intimate brunches, lunches and dinners; and Sliced: A Cut of Atlanta’s Best Bites and Cluck’d — A Chicken & Cocktail Soiree, two brand-new West Side events at Guardian Works.


South main kitchen is partnering with WhistlePig Rye Distillery to host a six-course, chef-curated tasting menu on September 15. The event will be led by Lawrence Ryefield of WhistlePig. The Maven Restaurant Group Culinary Director will be on hand to describe the nuances of each dish and how they are designed to pair with each whisky. Tickets are $200 per person.

CT Canteen & Taqueria at Halycon celebrates Mexico’s Independence Day on September 16. There will be food specials, margarita tents, a DJ from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., a live band from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., face painting for the kids, stilt walkers, a Latin dance show and more .

Homecoming Burgers celebrates National Cheeseburger Day on September 18 with a BOGO deal featuring the classic burger. Customers can use the BOGO offer by ordering through the Wayback Burgers app. They also offer 3 new products for the fall including the S’mores Shake, the Oktoberfest Burger and the cheese onion rings. Locations in Atlanta, Braselton, Covington and Lawrenceville.

Shake Shack launches BOGO Burgers to help heal the post-Labor Day blues. Order a ShackBurger on the Shack app and get a second free for your bud burger. Valid until September 12.


The monthly Zunzifest at Zunzi’s September 13 will offer free Conquistador or Rising Sun sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Zunzi’s is donating 26% of this month’s proceeds to CURE Childhood Cancer. To join the Zunzi text community and receive a link to more details about ZUNZIFEST!, text “ZUNZIFEST!” at 912-207-7551. On the morning of ZUNZIFEST!, customers will receive a code to show the team upon arrival. Zunzi’s will close early at 5:00 p.m. for a special appreciation party for the Zunzi’s team.

Taste Brookhaven is happening from 6-10 p.m. on September 15 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina. Guests can enjoy local dishes from over 15 Brookhaven restaurants as well as live music. All proceeds will benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Ponce town market is hosting a Pink Party on September 18 to celebrate all things whimsical, enchanting and bubbly. There will be food, drink specials, DJ DECOTEAU tunes, giveaways and more. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Giving Kitchen. Reservations suggested.

Village of Buckhead hosts an evening cocktail party at The Veranda on September 22 to celebrate fall fashion and raise funds for the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute. There will be French-inspired cocktails and past canapes, a book signing by author and fashion historian Nancy Flaherty, live music and an exclusive first look at fall styles from Buckhead Village retailers. Tickets are $100.

party in the kitchen is hosting its 19th annual event at The Stave Room to benefit Open Hand Atlanta from 7-10 p.m. September 28. The event will feature 20 of Atlanta’s top chefs and DJ Yvonne Monet will provide entertainment. There will also be live and silent auctions. Open Hand will also host a patronage party prior to the main event for VIP guests in the American Spirit Works Courtyard.

Westside Car Show will officially open at the beginning of October. The bar, restaurant and outdoor entertainment experience will be operated by STHRN Hospitality Co., led by industry veterans Kelly Campbell, Elizabeth Feichter and George Banks. The outdoor entertainment space will include a beer bar and a half-acre yard with cabanas, fire pits, yard games and a custom food truck. Westside Motor Lounge takes up three classic automotive buildings on a 3-acre site at the corner of Northside Drive and Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway.

Chili’s Grill & Bar celebrates the return of football with specials whenever football is on their televisions. Specials include boneless and bone-in wings starting at $7, all-new Chili’s Ranch water, PB&J shots, and a new version of their signature melted chocolate cake.

JINYA ramen bar in Buckhead features a new bowl and small plate – Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen and Lettuce Wraps made with ground seasoned pork and vegetables served with cilantro, fresh lettuce leaves and drizzled with sesame chili seasoning.


Captain D now offers its first Express prototype location in South Fulton. The Express restaurant has a drive-thru and a walk-in window. It is located at 5343 Old National Highway.

southern beauty The Bless Their Hearts guest chef dinner returns September 25. This month, Southern Belle chef and owner Joey Ward takes guests on a culinary journey with four incredibly talented chefs from the Metro Atlanta area. During the multi-course dinner experience, each chef prepares one dish. Dinner includes five signature dishes plus an amuse-bouche for $170 per guest (service included; excludes taxes). A portion of the proceeds will be donated to No Kid Hungry.

Grilled macaroni is offering a free meal for kids with the purchase of a main course when they dine September 1-30 in honor of back to school. They also offer 3 new versions of Italian classics infused with Buffalo flavor, including Buffalo Chicken Parmesan as an appetizer, sandwich or mac and cheese.
